Biography

Derrick Scobey, the founder, CEO, and primary black car driver of EXCALIBUR Executive Black Car Service, was born and raised in Oklahoma City. His father, a 35-year Oklahoma City Police Officer, and his mother, a homemaker, instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. Derrick’s commitment to education led him to Rose State College and the University of Central Oklahoma, where he honed his intellectual capabilities and prepared for his future endeavors.

During college, he became an entrepreneur, and at the young age of 23, a longtime OKC jewelry owner asked him to become a full partner with him, primarily because Derrick was excellent at sales and marketing.

Derrick’s journey took a significant turn when he relocated to the DFW Metroplex within five years and settled in McKinney, Texas. Here, he embarked on his ministry journey, all while maintaining his role in sales and marketing.

In 2006, a young entrepreneur with a sales team of 65+ consultants recognized Derrick’s potential and recruited him from his managerial role in a local McKinney, Texas, automobile dealership to be the General Sales Manager of his 100+ employee organization.

After four very productive years with this company, Derrick was asked by the First Baptist Church of McKinney, a 5,000-member church, to leave the secular workforce and become their full-time Senior Teaching Pastor.  Derrick remained in this role until relocating back to his beloved home city after 20 years in the Dallas Metroplex to be the Senior Pastor of an 80-year-old historic church.

Derrick’s commitment to his community is truly commendable. He has taken on numerous civic leadership roles within Oklahoma City and has significantly impacted, particularly during the pandemic. His service to over 150,000 children and families, disaster relief efforts, and partnership with World Vision International are just a few examples of his selfless dedication.

Recently, Derrick’s daughter graduated from the University of North Texas. During his daughter’s tenure at UNT, Derrick started looking for an additional revenue stream since kids in college are costly!

As Derrick began driving on the Uber Premier platform, he quickly realized the potential for a more personalized service. His professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction led to the establishment of EXCALIBUR Executive Black Car Service. Derrick’s ability to establish relationships with a diverse clientele, including corporate executives, professional athletes, business owners, musicians, judges, politicians, and professionals, has been a critical factor in the success of his business.

Many of these are residents of Nichols Hills, Rose Creek, Crown Heights, Edgemere Heights/Park, Mesta Park, Lincoln Terrace, Quail Creek, Val Verde, Gaillardia, and many more.

After careful consideration and with the support of his wife, Angela, Derrick decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial venture. They created an LLC and launched the EXCALIBUR Executive Black Car Service. Derrick’s keen business sense and commitment to providing top-notch service have been instrumental in the business’s success. Together, they invested in a 2023 Black Cadillac Escalade ESV and a Black Lincoln Navigator, forming a stunning and well-maintained ‘Mini’ fleet of luxury SUVs.
